"Meanwhile, another trio of local artists - Judy Enright, Barbara Goodsitt and Nicki Griffith - is on display at Sweetwaters Cafe. And their show, 'The Mind's Eye/Different Views,' highlights creativity that resides mostly in the inner world.

Of the Sweetwaters trio, Griffith's nine wax and pastel on paper paintings are the most obviously subjective works. Each of her paintings reflects broad patterns whose appearance is vaguely vegetative at most and purely geometric at the least. Their thickened pastel pigments' chromaticity heightens her palette, and each Griffith painting is a bold exercise in color and line.

Griffith's 'Iris Continuum' series of paintings most strongly reflects her penchant for the abstract. The three paintings of this series can be read as either broadly sketched curvilinear patterns or budding flowers. Her gracefully circular 'Knitting Together' balances an interest in bisecting, cross-crossing chromatic patterns, while 'Mozart Meets Satie' contrasts undulating plant stems against a lush vegetative blue-green background."
